A reminder that Monday 21 July is a School Development Day. There will be no school for students on this day. Students will return to school on Tuesday 22 July to begin Term 3.

From the Leadership Team
Reports will be sent home with your child this week. We hope you enjoy reading about all of their wonderful achievements throughout the term. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to make an appointment with your child’s teacher or a Deputy Principal — we’re always happy to discuss your child’s progress.
A gentle reminder to ensure that all clothing, especially jackets, are clearly labelled with your child’s name to help keep lost property to a minimum.
At our Satellite site, students recently celebrated NAIDOC Day with a special assembly and a range of shared activities alongside their primary school peers — a meaningful day of connection, culture, and learning.
Our Early Years Assembly featured the talented students from Rooms 1 and 4. It was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to perform for a very appreciative audience of parents and friends. Thank you to everyone who came along to support!
As we near the end of term, the Primary Phase has had a busy but highly productive few weeks. Our dedicated teachers have been working hard to finalise student reports, ensuring each child's growth and achievements are thoroughly reflected. A particular highlight was the wonderful assembly from Rooms 19 and 20 – it was fantastic to see their showcase. The students did brilliantly, demonstrating both confidence and creativity. A huge thank you to the staff and families for their ongoing support as we wrap up another successful term.
It’s been a busy and exciting time in our secondary classes with a range of engaging programs and events enriching student learning.
Our students have been actively participating in the Kalability sports program, which promotes fitness, teamwork, and fun through inclusive sporting activities.
We also welcomed Constable Care for an interactive incursion, offering valuable lessons on safety, decision-making, and respectful relationships in a format that really connected with our students.
The rhythm has been strong across the school with DRUMBEAT sessions led by Karli, giving students a creative outlet to build confidence, communication skills, and emotional resilience through drumming.
A huge thank you to all families who attended our recent Parent Expo. It was a great opportunity to connect with staff, explore supports available, and celebrate the learning journeys of our young people.

Early Years Learning Centre
We've had a fantastic time in the Early Years Learning Centre! The students have especially enjoyed exploring science experiments, with a big highlight being our investigation into chemical reactions. They were fascinated by the reaction between bicarbonate soda and vinegar and loved seeing how it could inflate a balloon.
In music with Cait, the children have been developing their skills by imitating one-step actions using instruments and joining in with action-based songs.
We’re looking forward to another exciting term ahead and wish everyone a safe and happy school holiday!

Room 4
Room 4 has been buzzing with energy and enthusiasm as we've kicked off this term.
We started off the term practicing for our assembly performance. It's been a lot of fun learning the actions and having the opportunity to show everyone what we've been working on!
Playtime has been extra exciting with the addition of new toys in the playground. We've been having a blast with the prams and animal figures - they're definitely our favourites.
We have been practicing our fine motor skills to with activities like threading, cutting, and tracing. We're seeing improvements every day, it's great to see our hard work paying off.
On Fridays we have been transitioning through the school to have our special playtime with our friends in Room 30. It's a highlight of our week and we always look forward to it.
We're working hard in Room 4 and having a lot of fun along the way. We can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!

Room 18
Room 18 has had a wonderful Term 2! It has been a busy term with students participating in hands on learning and engaging activities. This term in science we focused on the Indigenous Aboriginal seasons and how they correlate to the western seasons. In art we have enjoyed participating in sensory art activities based on the Aboriginal seasons. We have continued looking at our families in HaSS lessons and have enjoyed conversations about our families and what they mean to us. Music is still a huge joy in Room 18 with the students enjoying music lessons and exploring different instruments. Room 18 has loved our weekly swimming lessons, and it is a highlight of our week.
It has been an incredible term that has been full of learning, laughter and music.

Room 19
Room 19 students have had a fun and busy term filled with hands-on learning and exciting activities. In Digital Technologies, they explored coding by programming Bee Bots to follow simple paths. During Design and Technologies lessons, they enjoyed creating their own Rube Goldberg machines to solve problems in creative ways. In Physical Education, students developed teamwork and coordination through Tee Ball games. Our Health lessons focused on identifying body parts and learning about the physical changes that occur during puberty. In Art, students experimented with line, pattern and texture to create engaging artworks.
It’s been a fantastic term full of learning, creativity and movement!

Room 21
Hello from Room 21!
Can you believe how quickly Term 2 has flown by? It's been an exciting and eventful few months, and we’ve had a fantastic time diving into a wide range of activities and learning experiences.
This term, we were thrilled to welcome Jack as our DOTT teacher and Tauri to our class team – they’ve both brought such positive energy and new ideas to our classroom.
Our students have been busy with a variety of engaging activities, including DrumBeat, bike riding, and cooking. We've also explored fascinating topics in both Science and HaSS (Humanities and Social Sciences). In Science, our studies have taken us on a journey through the Earth, Sun, and Moon, while in HASS, we’ve delved into the world of medieval Europe and learned about social class during that time.
Thank you to all our students for making this semester so enjoyable! Here's to more fun and learning in the terms ahead.
Looking forward to what Term 3 has in store!

Room 22
What a Term!
It’s hard to believe how quickly the term has passed, filled with rich sensory experiences, music, and movement. Alongside our regular curriculum and therapy routines, we had two special highlights the students responded to with great enthusiasm.
One standout experience was the visit from the West Coast Eagles. The students were thrilled to meet some of the players in person and even have a go at kicking the footy. The players were friendly and encouraging, making it a memorable event for everyone involved.
Another much-loved highlight was our weekly DRUMBEAT musical sessions. These musical experiences involved exploring drums of all sizes—feeling the vibration of the beats, hearing the rhythms build, and working together to create shared sounds. It was a joyful and expressive way for students to engage through touch, sound, and rhythm.
It has been a busy and enjoyable term, and we look forward to more great experiences next term.

Room 23
Term 2 has brought much fun to Room 23, especially with a visit from the West Coast Eagles mascot and players. We had prepared their team song on our switches, and the players loved hearing us playing it for them!
In Science this term, we have been exploring the differences between solids, liquids, and gases. We enjoyed painting with noisy marbles, pouring coloured liquids through sieves, and experiencing ice cubes melting in our hands.
In Literacy, a favoured book has been “Harvey The Boy Who Couldn’t Fart”. We enjoyed taking it in turns to switch activate the fart machine, which provided much laughter and motivation!
In Health, we have been learning which sensory experiences make us feel safe and unsafe with access to items such as slime, honey, and soft items.
Lastly, we have been lucky enough to have Friday drumming sessions with Karli Dore. We love feeling the vibrations of the big drum, having a turn at banging the drums, and listening to the drum that sounds like the ocean waves.
We have been having fun practicing for our assembly item in Week 10. We can’t wait to show to our family and friends all the wonderful things we have been learning so far.

Room 24
As Term 2 comes to an end, we would like to take the opportunity to share and reflect on the exciting learning experiences and activities we’ve enjoyed over the past weeks.
One of the highlights this term was our participation in the all Abilities Sports Day. Students engaged in a variety of sports including volleyball, rugby, cricket and rowing. It was a fantastic opportunity to build teamwork, try new activities, and have fun outdoors.
In our weekly cooking program, students have been developing their independence and planning skills. Each week, we research ingredients and compare prices online as a class, recording them in our shopping books. On Wednesdays, we travel to Morley Galleria to purchase the ingredients we need. Our cooking sessions with room 27 have been a great success, and students continue to grow in confidence when preparing and working with different ingredients.
In Geography, we have been exploring Australian landmarks and their surrounding environments. This has helped build our knowledge of key places around Australia and sparked some great classroom discussions.
It’s been a productive and enjoyable term, and we are proud of the progress everyone has made. We look forward to more exciting learning in Term 3.
Wishing all families a safe and relaxing holiday break!

Room 28
This term has been one of excitement and learning for Room 28!
Below are some of the highlights.
West Coast Eagles Visit
We were lucky enough to have a visit from the West Coast Eagles, and it was a day filled with inspiration and excitement! The students had the opportunity to ask questions and even try out a few footy skills, leaving everyone pumped for the next sporting challenge.
Daylight Disco Fun
Everyone had a fun showing off their best dance moves and enjoying the beats. The spirit of togetherness and celebration was evident, and it was clear that our class loves to have fun together!
King Pig – A Favorite Read
When it comes to books, one story stood out as a firm favorite this term – King Pig! The class really connected with the hilarious and heartwarming tale of King Pig's journey.
Drumming
Every Friday we get the wonderful change to explore beat, rhythm, drumsticks and fun. This further expands our musical experiences.

Satellite 3
This term, students thoroughly enjoyed participating in our tennis clinic with Coach Anthony. They focused on developing basic tennis skills and improving their hand-eye coordination. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow on the court each week.
Satellite 3 also took part in an exciting Animal Farm incursion. Students had the opportunity to get up close with a variety of friendly animals, including guinea pigs, llamas, rabbits, and goats. They particularly enjoyed feeding and patting the animals, making it a memorable and engaging experience for all.

Future Pathways
On Tuesday, 24th June, a Parent Event for all Secondary School families was held at the Durham Road School Enterprise Training Centre.
The event began at 8:30am and welcomed over 20 parents and family members. A range of service providers were available to speak with families about supports including accommodation, home care, alternatives to employment, 1:1 supports, planning, and recreational opportunities.
We were also fortunate to have a representative from the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT), who gave an informative presentation on guardianship and stayed afterwards to answer parent questions.
A feedback survey has been sent to all parents who signed in at the event. If you attended but haven’t received your survey and would like to share your thoughts, please contact the school and we’ll make sure it reaches you.
We are also exploring the idea of hosting parent coffee mornings for each phase group, providing a space for families to share knowledge, experiences, and build community connections. If you’re interested in being part of these, we’d love to hear from you.

Pool
We have had a wonderful first semester in the pool. In Term 1 we had the younger students from Embleton satellite classes for their interm classes. Our hydrotherapy students have worked hard on their programs including walking, stepping and independent sitting. Our junior students have been building their confidence in differing depths in the water.
With winter well and truly here please make sure students have a large towel to keep them warm for the short walk from the pool to the changerooms. Our wheelchair students will need 2 towels as one towel can get quite wet as they exit the water. Happy Swimming!
